Reap and Sow is a four-mana green spell that either destroys a land and fetches one to your hand, or does both — making it a removal spell and a ramp spell on the same card when you pay the entwine cost. The modal flexibility is real, but six mana for the full effect is a steep ask in a format where most ramp spells cost two.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Reap and Sow does its best work — the entwine mode doubles as land destruction against problematic nonbasics like Cabal Coffers or Maze of Ith while advancing your own mana base, which is a combination most four-mana green spells can't offer. In pauper it's a legal option, but the format moves faster and the six-mana entwine mode is nearly unplayable there, so only the fetch half sees any real consideration. Legacy and Vintage have access to far more efficient land disruption and ramp, so Reap and Sow doesn't show up in those formats outside of niche budget builds. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander's dynamics closely enough that the same verdict applies.

Price Context
Current price
$0.31 bulk tier
At $0.31, Reap and Sow is firmly bulk — easy to pick up as a throw-in or from a commons box. Bulk commons with narrow applications rarely move in price, so don't expect this to appreciate.
