Ravenous Chupacabra card art
Ravenous Chupacabra enters the battlefield and unconditionally destroys any creature your opponent controls — no targeting restrictions, no conditions, just removal stapled to a body. Four mana is the honest cost for that effect, and in Commander, where the body sticks around to crew vehicles, trigger aristocrats, or get blinked, it's a deal worth taking.

Captain N'ghathrod

Captain N'ghathrod

60.2% of decks · synergy 0.52

Captain N'ghathrod mills opponents and steals their best creatures, so Ravenous Chupacabra clears the path for attacks while contributing a body that can be recurred or sacrificed to keep the theft engine churning.

02
Mirko, Obsessive Theorist

Mirko, Obsessive Theorist

59.4% of decks · synergy 0.51

Mirko, Obsessive Theorist wants creatures entering and leaving the battlefield to fuel mill triggers, and Ravenous Chupacabra delivers removal on a reusable body that fits cleanly into that loop.

03
Henzie "Toolbox" Torre

Henzie "Toolbox" Torre

53.5% of decks · synergy 0.48

Henzie "Toolbox" Torre discounts creatures with blitz, which lets Ravenous Chupacabra hit the table ahead of curve, kill a threat, and draw a card on its way out — exactly the kind of value blitz wants.

04
Yarok, the Desecrated

Yarok, the Desecrated

53.5% of decks · synergy 0.48

Yarok, the Desecrated doubles every enters-the-battlefield trigger, so Ravenous Chupacabra becomes a two-for-one removal spell the moment it lands — killing two creatures for four mana is an absurd rate.

05
Alesha, Who Smiles at Death

Alesha, Who Smiles at Death

49.6% of decks · synergy 0.48

Alesha, Who Smiles at Death recurs creatures with power two or less from the graveyard, and Ravenous Chupacabra's 2/2 body means Alesha can keep attacking, keep returning it, and keep killing a creature every time.

Commander is where Ravenous Chupacabra earns its keep — multiplayer tables always have a threatening creature worth killing, the body survives to be blinked or reanimated, and unconditional removal that replaces itself on a stick is exactly what midrange piles want. In competitive non-rotating formats like Legacy and Modern, it's too slow at four mana in a world of one- and two-mana interaction, and dedicated removal spells do the job without the awkward creature type. Pioneer is more forgiving on curve, but even there the format's threats and tempo demands outpace what a four-mana 2/2 can offer. Ravenous Chupacabra is a Commander card first and foremost — build around it or blink it, and it overperforms; play it in a 60-card format expecting efficiency, and it disappoints.

Current price

$0.48 bulk tier

At $0.48, Ravenous Chupacabra is deep bulk — cheap enough to throw into any black Commander deck without a second thought. Demand is broad but not spikey, and wide reprinting history keeps the floor firmly in bulk territory, so there's no reason to hesitate picking up copies.
