Quarantine Field scales: for every two additional mana you pour in, it exiles another nonland permanent, turning a single enchantment into a board-control engine that can lock out multiple threats at once. The cost is real — you need a lot of mana up front and a sweeper effect later to get those exiles back — but mass removal that sticks to specific targets this cleanly is rare.

Commander is where Quarantine Field actually earns its slot — multiplayer tables generate enough high-value permanents that exiling two or three simultaneously is a realistic outcome, and the enchantment type means it plays well in Aura-matters and white-control builds. In competitive Legacy or Vintage, it's too slow and too mana-intensive; targeted exile effects there need to be one or two mana, not four-plus. Modern and Pioneer have access to cheaper exile-based removal that doesn't ask you to tap out, so Quarantine Field rarely sees play in those formats. Oathbreaker is the one non-Commander 60-card-adjacent format where it shows up, again in white-based control or pillow-fort lists that can hit six or eight mana without blinking.
