Quag Sickness is a -X/-X Aura whose power scales with the number of Swamps you control — in a mono-black or heavily black deck it can permanently neutralize a creature for three mana at sorcery speed. The catch is that it trades one-for-one and dies to enchantment removal, so it belongs in dedicated black devotion or Swamp-matters builds, not as a generic removal spell.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Quag Sickness is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but it only earns a slot in Pauper, where commons are the currency and mono-black devotion shells can reliably power it up to -5/-5 or better. In Commander, the Swamp count is high enough in dedicated mono-black builds to make it respectable removal, but enchantment-based removal is fragile in a format full of Naturalize effects and bounce spells. Everywhere else — Modern, Pioneer, Legacy — unconditional removal at instant speed outclasses Quag Sickness so completely that it never sees play.

Price Context
Current price
$0.04 bulk tier
At $0.04, Quag Sickness is deep bulk — you'll pay more in shipping than for the card itself. That price is stable and will stay there; it's a common with narrow applicability and no spike potential.
