Psychic Venom is a two-mana Aura that deals 2 damage to a player whenever the enchanted land is tapped — punishing, but only as long as the land stays on the battlefield and your opponent keeps using it. The problem is that any land destruction, bounce, or simple land sacrifice removes it for free, leaving you down a card and them no worse off.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Psychic Venom sees essentially no competitive play anywhere it's legal. In Legacy and Vintage, opponents have far better things to do with their lands and far faster ways to win than 2 damage per tap can race. Pauper is the most plausible home given the format's lower power ceiling, but even there it's outclassed by proactive blue commons. In Commander, three opponents means three people who can just tap the land and eat the damage while advancing their own game plans — 2 damage per activation is noise at a 40-life table, and Psychic Venom offers no tempo, no card advantage, and no late-game relevance.

Price Context
Current price
unknown tier
Price data isn't available for Psychic Venom at the moment, but as a bulk common from the early days of Magic it typically sits at near-zero — pennies in a bargain bin if you can find it. At any price above that, it isn't worth picking up; the card is simply too weak to justify a slot regardless of cost.
