Pristine Angel card art
Pristine Angel hits the board as a 4/4 flyer with full protection from everything — untap during your upkeep and nothing touches it until you cast a spell. The six-mana cost is real, but the Shrieking Drake loop and similar bounce tricks keep it permanently untapped and untargetable, making it one of the hardest permanents in Commander to interact with.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

FormatVerdict
commander

oathbreaker

Commander is where Pristine Angel earns its keep — the long game gives it time to set up, and multiplayer tables are full of targeted removal that bounces off its protection clause. In Legacy and Vintage it's a non-starter: six mana for a creature that dies to Swords to Plowshares the one turn it's tapped is nowhere near the rate those formats demand. Modern is technically legal but Pristine Angel has never been a factor there, outclassed by cheaper threats with immediate impact. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander's pace closely enough that the same shell can work, though the 20-life total shortens the window.

Price Context

Current price

$0.41 bulk tier

At $0.41, Pristine Angel is firmly bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not scarcity. That price is stable; the card sees enough niche Commander play to keep it from dropping further, but not enough demand to push it off the bulk floor.
