Predatory Advantage puts a 2/2 Lizard token into play at the end of each opponent's turn they control no nontoken creatures — so against the right table it snowballs fast, and against the wrong one it does nothing. Five mana for a conditional token engine is a real cost, and the card earns its slot only in decks that can reliably punish creature-light opponents or force that condition themselves.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Predatory Advantage is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but realistically it only belongs in Commander. In Legacy and Vintage, five mana enchantments that don't immediately impact the board are unplayable — the formats are too fast and too interactive for a conditional token engine to matter. Modern is similarly hostile; creature counts are high enough that opponents will reliably blank Predatory Advantage for several turns before you die to something. Commander is where the card lives, specifically in multiplayer games where at least one opponent regularly sits behind a low-creature or creature-wipe strategy, and where five mana is a normal investment for a long-term engine.

Price Context
Current price
$0.30 bulk tier
At $0.30, Predatory Advantage is deep bulk — the kind of card you pull from a box rather than buy. The price accurately reflects its narrow demand; it sees enough Commander play to stay in print awareness but not enough to appreciate, so don't expect the floor to move.
