Powerstone Minefield turns every attacking creature into a potential suicide bomber — anything with toughness 2 or less dies the moment it swings, and that passive pressure shapes combat from the moment it lands. Four mana for a static enchantment that permanently taxes the board is a real rate, but it does nothing against big creatures and blanks entirely in decks that don't care about combat.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

Commander is where Powerstone Minefield actually lives — four-player tables full of token strategies, mana dorks, and utility creatures mean the Minefield's 1 damage clause has constant targets, and its pillow-fort applications are real in go-wide or combat-heavy metas. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but essentially invisible; the formats move too fast and interact at too low a creature-toughness floor for a four-mana enchantment to matter. Oathbreaker shares Commander's multiplayer dynamics and could theoretically support it in a damage-doubling shell, but the smaller deck size and faster games mean it competes with more efficient options.

Price Context
Current price
$0.35 bulk tier
At $0.35, Powerstone Minefield is firmly bulk — the kind of card you pick up as a throw-in without thinking twice. It's unlikely to spike barring a high-profile Commander precon feature, so there's no urgency to buy in quantity, but there's also no reason to hesitate at this price if it fits the deck.
