Porphyry Nodes
Enchantment
At the beginning of your upkeep, destroy the creature with the least power. It can't be regenerated. If two or more creatures are tied for least power, you choose one of them.
When there are no creatures on the battlefield, sacrifice this enchantment.

Porphyry Nodes kills the smallest creature on the board every upkeep — an attrition engine that compounds fast against token-heavy or weenie strategies. The catch is it disappears the moment no creatures are in play, so running it requires a reliable way to keep at least one creature around.

In Commander, Porphyry Nodes is a niche but real control piece — it punishes go-wide strategies and token floods, provided you anchor it to an indestructible or otherwise immune permanent. Legacy sees occasional fringe play in white-based taxing shells that can reliably keep one creature in play while opponents' one-drops and utility creatures vanish. Modern is theoretically legal but the meta has outpaced it; faster clocks and larger threat sizes make the slow upkeep trigger insufficient. Vintage offers the raw power density to support it, but dedicated removal is so abundant there that an enchantment-based sweeper rarely earns a slot.

Price Context
Current price
$0.21 bulk tier
At $0.21, Porphyry Nodes is firmly bulk — the price reflects its narrow application rather than any lack of power. It holds that floor reliably; casual demand for enchantment-based removal keeps it from dropping further, but wide reprint availability caps any upside.
