Commander is where Phyrexian Awakening actually earns its slot: longer games mean deeper graveyards, and instant-speed army creation into a board wipe or a winning attack is exactly the kind of high-ceiling play that wins tables. In Modern and Pioneer it's legal but finds no real home — token strategies there want speed and consistency, and a sorcery-speed substitute does that job for less setup.
