Pharika's Spawn lives almost entirely in Commander, where the poison counter matters and the death trigger has time to pay off across a longer game. In Modern and Legacy it's too slow and too narrow — five mana for a 4/4 with a conditional upside doesn't compete in those formats. Pioneer is the same story: faster decks don't want it and infect shells have better options. Commander is the only context where spreading poison counters across multiple opponents and recouping card quality on death makes Pharika's Spawn worth sleeving.
