Pendrell Flux taxes every creature on the board one blue mana per upkeep — opponents who can't or won't pay watch their boards evaporate for free. It's one of the cleanest soft-lock pieces in Commander for any deck that wants to go wide with tokens or simply keep its own creature count low.

Pendrell Flux is a Commander card through and through — the format's multiplayer structure means the cumulative upkeep pressure compounds across three opponents simultaneously, and the density of token and wide-board strategies makes the tax genuinely punishing. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but essentially unplayed; competitive creature decks in those formats either win before the enchantment matters or have enough mana that the cost is trivial. Pauper is the one fringe case worth noting — efficient blue control shells could theoretically use it as a creature-slowing tool, but the format's threat density and typical game speed make it unreliable. Stick to Commander, where the math works in your favor.
