Patchwork Crawler

Commander is where Patchwork Crawler earns its keep — graveyard-based creature decks have the density of self-mill, reanimation, and redundancy to exploit its ability-copying reliably across a long game. In Legacy and Vintage it's too slow and too fragile against interaction-heavy environments where a two-mana 0/1 rarely survives long enough to matter. Modern and Pioneer have the graveyard enablers but lack the critical mass of powerful activated abilities that make Patchwork Crawler genuinely threatening, so it stays a fringe piece at best. Oathbreaker mirrors the Commander dynamic at a smaller scale — viable if your signature spell supports the graveyard gameplan.
