Parasitic Implant locks down one creature permanently — each upkeep the opponent sacrifices it or loses 2 life, and if they sacrifice it, you get a 1/1 flying Insect token — but four mana for an aura that opponents can ignore by paying in life is a real cost. It earns its slot in decks that care about the token, the sacrifice trigger, or grinding attrition; everywhere else, there are faster answers.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Parasitic Implant is a slow-burn tool — best in aristocrats or token-sacrifice shells where the Insect token does real work and forcing repeated sacrifice decisions matters more than instant removal. In Pauper, the format's answer density and aggro speed make a four-mana aura that doesn't immediately kill the creature too slow for most competitive lists, though budget attrition brews can find a spot for it. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters; the effect is simply too soft and too expensive for those formats. Oathbreaker sits closer to Commander in pace, so the same attrition-shell reasoning applies.

Current price
$0.11 bulk tier
At $0.11, Parasitic Implant is deep bulk — you're not paying for power, you're paying for the effect. It won't appreciate; stock is wide and demand is narrow, so grab a copy if the synergy fits and don't think twice about the price.
