Parallax Nexus card art
Parallax Nexus lets you exile your opponents' hands entirely — five fade counters means five cards gone before they untap, and with the right abuse you can loop the effect indefinitely. The cost is real: it asks for a dedicated engine to recur it, and it does nothing the turn you play it if someone removes it.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

In Commander, Parallax Nexus is a role-player in dedicated combo or stax shells — it strips hands before a combo turn or locks out opponents who rely on instants for interaction. Legacy and Vintage see it only in fringe lists that abuse the fade counter mechanic or pair it with flicker effects, but it has never broken through in either format because the three-turn clock on its counters is too slow against fast combo. In Oathbreaker the compressed game pace and lower life totals make the hand-exile more punishing, and it pairs cleanly with planeswalker activations that add counters.

Price Context

Current price

$0.47 bulk tier

At $0.47, Parallax Nexus sits firmly in bulk territory — low enough that picking up copies is nearly free if the combo appeals to you. It has been reprinted enough times to keep supply healthy, so there is no meaningful price pressure pushing it upward.
