Palliation Accord card art
Palliation Accord turns every opposing creature death into a -1/-1 counter on something attacking or blocking you, which compounds fast in multiplayer games where creatures die constantly. The problem is five mana for a do-nothing enchantment that only discourages attacks rather than stopping them — it's a deterrent, not an answer.

Palliation Accord is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but its practical home is Commander and nothing else. In Legacy, Modern, and Vintage, five mana for a passive defensive enchantment is unplayable — those formats end games before this card can accumulate meaningful value. In Commander, the multiplayer environment does real work for it: three opponents means creatures are dying every turn cycle, and the counters stack across all attacking and blocking creatures, not just ones hitting you. It remains a fringe card even in Commander, landing in decks explicitly built around -1/-1 counters rather than as a generic defensive tool.

Price Context

Current price

$0.36 bulk tier

At $0.36, Palliation Accord is deep bulk — the price reflects its narrow application and low demand rather than any scarcity. It won't lose meaningful value, but it also has no ceiling; this card lives at the bottom of the bulk bin indefinitely.
