Overgrown Arch card art
Overgrown Arch puts repeatable card draw directly on a land — pay life, draw cards, no mana required beyond the tap. The life cost is real, but Agatha's Soul Cauldron and similar activated-ability engines make it a combo piece, not just a utility land.

Commander is where Overgrown Arch earns its slot — 40 life turns the pay-2-draw-1 clause from a liability into a resource, and decks that want activated abilities on lands (Maze's End strategies, landfall, or high-synergy combo shells) get genuine value here. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer, 20-life formats punish the life drain fast enough that dedicated draw spells almost always outperform it, and a tapped land that doesn't advance your mana development is rarely worth the slot. Vintage has better options at every point on the curve. Overgrown Arch is a Commander card that happens to be legal elsewhere.

Price Context

Current price

$0.13 bulk tier

At $0.13, Overgrown Arch is deep bulk — grab a copy without thinking twice. Bulk rares with combo applications can tick up if a deck or archetype breaks out, but this one is cheap enough that the calculus is simple: if you want it, you own it for pocket change.
