Organic Extinction card art
Organic Extinction wipes the board of non-artifact creatures — a one-sided sweeper in any deck that goes wide with artifacts or keeps its threats on a ship. The catch is Inspirit, Flagship Vessel, which is the primary home for this effect, making it narrow outside that shell but nearly auto-include inside it.

Inspirit, Flagship Vessel

Inspirit, Flagship Vessel

73.6% of decks · synergy 0.65

Organic Extinction shows up in nearly three-quarters of Inspirit, Flagship Vessel decks because the commander's crew of artifact creatures survives while everything organic dies — it's the cleanest asymmetric reset the archetype has.

02
Alibou, Ancient Witness

Alibou, Ancient Witness

57.6% of decks · synergy 0.55

Alibou, Ancient Witness runs an artifact-creature-heavy board that laughs at Organic Extinction while opponents lose their entire creature base, making it a reliable one-sided sweep in that shell.

03
Kilo, Apogee Mind

Kilo, Apogee Mind

62.8% of decks · synergy 0.54

Kilo, Apogee Mind's artifact-centric game plan means Organic Extinction hits opponents hard without touching your own pieces, functioning as a tempo-positive reset when the board state turns against you.

04
Mendicant Core, Guidelight

Mendicant Core, Guidelight

63.1% of decks · synergy 0.54

Mendicant Core, Guidelight commands a battlefield full of artifacts and tokens that bypass Organic Extinction's clause entirely, letting the deck recover immediately while opponents rebuild from scratch.

05

Tetzin, Gnome Champion

60.7% of decks · synergy 0.52

Tetzin, Gnome Champion's artifact-creature synergies mean Organic Extinction does exactly what you want — clear the organic clutter, keep your constructs, and press the advantage.

Organic Extinction is a Commander card through and through — the effect is calibrated for multiplayer boards where opponents reliably have non-artifact creatures to sweep and you've built around artifacts to dodge it. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but competes with faster, unconditional options that don't require deck construction to pay off; it won't see play there. Oathbreaker is the one other format where it has a real home, again in artifact-centric shells where the asymmetry is baked into the deck's identity.

Price Context

Current price

$0.35 bulk tier

At $0.35, Organic Extinction is bulk — easy to acquire and easy to throw in any artifact deck without a second thought on cost. Given how narrowly it slots (artifact-heavy builds only), the price is appropriate and unlikely to spike unless a dominant Inspirit, Flagship Vessel variant pushes demand.
