Ore Gorger enters the battlefield and destroys target nonbasic land — unconditional, no mana investment beyond the creature itself. At five mana for a 4/3, the body is irrelevant; you're paying for a Stone Rain stapled to a blocker, and in Commander that trade is almost never worth a deck slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Ore Gorger occupies an awkward position: land destruction is politically toxic at a 120-life table, and five mana for a single land hit is too slow to matter against decks that will simply fetch another. Dedicated land-hate builds running Ruric Thar or Zo-Zu the Punisher want cheaper, repeatable effects, not a one-shot 4/3. In Legacy and Vintage, Ore Gorger is unplayable — those formats move too fast for a five-mana sorcery-speed creature with no immediate protection. It's legal across the older formats but sees no competitive play in any of them.

$0.12 bulk tier
At $0.12, Ore Gorger is deep bulk — buy it for pennies if a land-destruction theme specifically calls for it. Bulk commons with narrow effects don't appreciate, so there's no reason to stock up.
