Opaline Sliver card art
Opaline Sliver turns every targeted spell an opponent points at your Slivers into a free card, which means the more Slivers you control, the more punishing it becomes to interact with any of them. In The First Sliver decks that cascade into a board of ten-plus Slivers, the card advantage it generates makes targeted removal functionally counterproductive for your opponents.

The First Sliver's cascade chain floods the board with Slivers faster than any other commander, and Opaline Sliver turns that critical mass into a draw engine — opponents who try to pick off individual pieces mid-chain just dig you deeper into your deck.

In Commander, Opaline Sliver is a role-player rather than a bomb: it does nothing on an empty board, but in a dedicated Sliver build it quickly becomes the reason opponents give up on targeted removal altogether. Legacy and Vintage are the only competitive formats where it's legal, and neither has ever found a serious use for it — Sliver strategies don't compete at that power level, so it stays firmly in the casual pile. Modern has the card pool but not the competitive Sliver shell to make it matter outside of kitchen-table builds. Opaline Sliver is a Commander card through and through.

Price Context

Current price

$2.92 cheap tier

At $2.92, Opaline Sliver sits in the cheap tier — fair for a card with a narrow home but a dedicated one. Its price is stable because demand is real but limited to Sliver tribal, so don't expect movement in either direction.
