Opal Caryatid is a one-mana enchantment that becomes a 0/3 defender only once another enchantment enters the battlefield — meaning it sits inert until you play a second enchantment, and even then it's just a mana-neutral blocker with no offensive presence. The payoff is too conditional and too small to justify the slot in any competitive build.

In Commander, Opal Caryatid is fringe at best — enchantress builds that want creature-enchantments for synergy have far better options, and a 0/3 defender that requires setup provides almost no board impact. In Pauper, the one-mana cost is attractive in theory, but the enchantment-trigger condition makes it unreliable as early defense compared to unconditional one-drop blockers. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters; no deck at those power levels has room for a conditional 0/3. Opal Caryatid finds its most plausible home in enchantment-tribal Commander shells, but even there it rarely makes the cut over cards that draw cards, generate mana, or win the game.

Price Context
Current price
$0.16 bulk tier
At $0.16, Opal Caryatid is bulk — you're not paying for power, you're paying for a placeholder. The price is unlikely to move without a sudden spike in enchantment-tribal Commander demand, and that spike isn't coming.
