On Wings of Gold gives a creature — or a graveyard engine like Tortured Existence — a flicker effect that triggers enters-the-battlefield abilities and resets tokens for one white mana at instant speed. Temmet, Naktamun's Will decks run it at nearly 90% inclusion because flickering a token on end step means it enters fresh and gets Temmet's buff for free on the next attack.

Commanders with the highest synergy

Temmet, Naktamun's Will
Temmet, Naktamun's Will cares about tokens entering the battlefield, and On Wings of Gold flickers any token at instant speed on end step to trigger that bonus again — 87% inclusion rate is essentially a consensus staple.

Varina, Lich Queen
Varina, Lich Queen builds a wide zombie board, and On Wings of Gold protects key attackers from removal while resetting any ETB triggers on her zombie tokens mid-combat.

Quintorius, History Chaser
Quintorius, History Chaser fires on every spell cast from exile, and On Wings of Gold re-enters a creature to the battlefield so it can be exiled and replayed again, compounding Quintorius's trigger count.

God-Eternal Oketra
God-Eternal Oketra creates a 4/4 Zombie Warrior every time a creature enters the battlefield under your control, so On Wings of Gold on any creature is effectively a one-mana 4/4 with an ETB rider.

Hashaton, Scarab's Fist
Hashaton, Scarab's Fist rewards attacking with exerted creatures, and On Wings of Gold flickers an exerted creature to remove the exert penalty and prime it for another attack immediately.

Commander is the natural home for On Wings of Gold — one-mana instant-speed flicker is exactly the kind of toolbox spell that multiplayer games reward, where holding up mana to protect a key creature or reset an ETB on an opponent's end step is always worth the card slot. In Legacy and Vintage, the competition is steep: those formats have access to Ephemerate, which offers rebound for the same cost and does the same protective work without needing a creature already in play. On Wings of Gold is legal in Oathbreaker as well, where the same ETB-reset logic applies in a smaller game. It's not legal in Modern, Pioneer, Standard, or Pauper, so outside of Commander it's a niche pickup.

$1.36 cheap tier
At $1.36, On Wings of Gold sits in the cheap tier — low enough that you're not making a budget decision by including it, just a deckbuilding one. Given its near-universal inclusion in Temmet, Naktamun's Will lists and strong overlap with any white ETB strategy, it holds that price comfortably without being a speculative buy.
