Omen of the Sun puts two 1/1 Soldier tokens and a lifelink counter on the board for four mana, then sits in the graveyard as a scry-2 reset whenever you need to dig. The flash-speed token production and persistent recursion make it a solid role-player in token and lifegain shells, but four mana is a steep ask in faster metas.

In Commander, Omen of the Sun earns its slot in dedicated token or lifegain decks — flash timing lets you hold up interaction and still deploy a board presence, and the scry-2 recursion gives late-game utility most token producers lack. Outside Commander, it rarely makes the cut: Pauper has access to more efficient token producers, and Modern and Legacy move too fast for a four-mana sorcery-speed-equivalent effect dressed up as an instant. Oathbreaker is the one exception where its flash speed and self-recycling can matter more, particularly in white lifegain builds.
