Noble Purpose turns every attacking creature into a lifegain trigger, and in a wide enough board it stacks up fast — we're talking double-digit life swings in a single combat step. Five mana for a static enchantment is a real ask, though, and without a commander that converts that life total into pressure or payoffs, it's just a number going up.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Noble Purpose lives almost exclusively in Commander, where games go long enough for a five-mana enchantment to matter and wide-board strategies are common enough to generate meaningful life totals. In Legacy and Vintage it's unplayable — five mana for a passive lifegain effect doesn't come close to the power bar in those formats. Oathbreaker is the one exception where it could see fringe play, specifically in a life-matters shell with a planeswalker that cares about the total. Anywhere else Noble Purpose is simply off the table.

Price Context
Current price
$0.72 bulk tier
At $0.72, Noble Purpose sits squarely in bulk territory — easy to pick up, easy to trade for. Bulk enchantments like this rarely climb unless a new commander breaks the archetype wide open, so don't expect movement.
