No Escape counters a spell and exiles it — no graveyard recursion, no flashback, no second chances. Three mana for a hard counter with a relevant rider is the baseline rate, and the exile clause is what separates it from Counterspell's budget cousins.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, No Escape fills the role of a counterspell that doubles as graveyard hate, which matters in a format where Eternal Witness, Snapcaster Mage, and reanimation targets clog every pod. Legacy and Vintage have access to free or one-mana counters that make three mana prohibitive, so No Escape doesn't compete there. Modern and Pioneer are creature-combat formats where counterspells are sideboard tools at best, and the exile rider rarely comes up against the threats you're actually trying to stop. Pauper is its most interesting non-Commander home — blue control shells can use the exile clause against flashback and graveyard-value strategies in that format. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander's logic: the exile upside is live and three mana is manageable on a 20-life clock.

Price Context
Current price
$0.14 bulk tier
At $0.14, No Escape is deep bulk — the kind of card you pull from a box rather than purchase. That price is stable because supply is high and demand is narrow; it won't spike unless a graveyard-heavy meta pushes players toward redundant exile-counters.
