Necroplasm is a slow-burn board wipe stapled to a recursive threat — each upkeep it accumulates a counter, then destroys every creature sharing that converted mana cost, making it a ticking clock that clears cheap tokens on turn two of its life and hits mid-range staples by turn three. The cost is the telegraphing: opponents see it coming and will play around it, so it earns its slot most reliably in decks like Tormod, the Desecrator that convert the resulting graveyard traffic into additional value.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Necroplasm occupies a niche as a repeatable, incremental sweeper that punishes token decks and low-curve creature strategies — formats where players go wide with 1/1s and 2/2s are exactly where it thrives. Legacy and Vintage are legal but uninterested; the formats are too fast for a three-mana creature that needs multiple upkeep triggers to deliver its payoff. Modern is technically legal but Necroplasm has never found a home there for the same reason — the card demands a slow, grindy game to pay off its setup cost. Commander remains the only format where the pace aligns with what Necroplasm actually wants to do.

$0.74 bulk tier
At $0.74, Necroplasm is firmly bulk — you can pick it up as a throw-in or out of a commons box without a second thought. It's a niche card with a narrow audience, so don't expect the price to move meaningfully in either direction.
