Myr Moonvessel does nothing until it dies, then it produces one colorless mana — a payoff so narrow that it only earns a slot when you can guarantee the death trigger fires repeatedly or fuels something specific. In Koll, the Forgemaster builds it returns to hand on death, and in Urtet, Remnant of Memnarch lists it's a cheap Myr body that feeds the tribe while the mana bump enables follow-up plays.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Urtet, Remnant of Memnarch
Myr Moonvessel is a one-mana Myr that checks the tribal box for Urtet, Remnant of Memnarch, and the death trigger occasionally converts a chump block or sacrifice into a free mana bump toward Urtet's expensive activated ability.

Oswald Fiddlebender
Oswald Fiddlebender sacrifices artifacts as part of his tutoring engine, making Myr Moonvessel a willing sacrifice target that replaces itself with a mana credit — effectively reducing the net cost of Oswald's ability by one.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Myr Moonvessel is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but its real home is Commander where sacrifice synergies and tribal payoffs are dense enough to justify a do-nothing-on-entry body. In Pauper it's technically playable but a one-time mana-on-death effect doesn't fit any established archetype there. Legacy and Vintage have zero interest in it — the effect is far too slow and incidental for those formats. Commander is where Myr Moonvessel earns its keep, and only in specific builds that actively want cheap Myr bodies or guaranteed death-trigger loops.

$0.38 bulk tier
At $0.38, Myr Moonvessel sits firmly in bulk territory — you'll likely find it in a common box before you'd bother ordering it. The price reflects its narrow role accurately; demand is real but concentrated in Urtet lists, which isn't enough volume to push it out of bulk.
