In Commander, Mind Slash occupies a niche in sacrifice-matters and discard-matters builds where repeated targeted discard slowly dismantles the most dangerous hand at the table. Legacy and Vintage have access to far more efficient discard — Thoughtseize and Force of Will set a brutal benchmark — so Mind Slash doesn't compete there outside of highly specific combo shells.
