Merchant of Secrets enters the battlefield and draws you a card — full stop, no conditions, no hoops. Three mana for a 1/1 that replaces itself is the floor, and in Inalla, Archmage Ritualist shells where every Wizard etb gets copied for one mana, that floor becomes a two-card draw stapled to a body.

Inalla, Archmage Ritualist
Inalla, Archmage Ritualist pays one mana to copy the Merchant of Secrets trigger, turning a single cast into two draws and two bodies — exactly the kind of incremental value the Inalla engine wants to chain together across a long game.

In Commander, Merchant of Secrets is a budget cantrip body — it's never the best draw spell in the deck, but Wizard-tribal builds with Inalla, Archmage Ritualist or Adeliz, the Cinder Wind will run it for the creature type as much as the effect. In Pauper, a 1/1 for three that draws one is strictly fair, and there are better options at common, so it sees almost no play there. Legacy and Vintage have no use for it — the bar for three-mana sorcery-speed draw in those formats is impossibly high. Oathbreaker mirrors the Commander calculus: fine in a Wizard shell, invisible everywhere else.

Price Context
Current price
$0.10 bulk tier
At $0.10, Merchant of Secrets is pure bulk — the kind of card you pull from a common box, not a store page. Price stability is a non-issue; it'll sit at a dime indefinitely because supply vastly outpaces the narrow demand.
