Medomai's Prophecy locks down a named card type across all opponents' hands and future draws for four turns — a tempo hit that compounds the longer it sits. Two mana is a steal for that reach, but it does nothing the turn it enters and folds to enchantment removal before it ever ticks up.

Medomai's Prophecy is a Commander card at heart — the four-turn countdown is long enough to matter in a slow, multi-player game, and naming the right card type at the right moment can neutralize a combo player's key pieces before they ever hit the board. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer the one-for-one math doesn't hold up: two mana to maybe strand some cards in hand is too speculative when opponents are goldfish-racing at speed. Vintage has the raw power density to make the named type irrelevant almost immediately. Oathbreaker is the closest cousin to Commander in terms of game pace, so the same logic applies — it's playable there for the same reasons.

$0.09 bulk tier
At $0.09, Medomai's Prophecy is deep bulk — you're spending almost nothing to pick up copies. Bulk enchantments with niche applications rarely appreciate, so treat this as a cheap role-player to slot in, not a spec.
