Mantle of Leadership puts a +1/+1 counter on the equipped creature at the start of each player's combat — in a four-player Commander game, that's three free counters per round on top of your own. The equip cost of one mana keeps it firmly in action, but the card earns its slot only in decks that care about counters or want a cheap way to grow a threat every single turn.

Commander is where Mantle of Leadership does its best work: the multi-player structure means you trigger the counter ability on every opponent's turn, compounding value in a way 1v1 formats never replicate. In Legacy, Modern, or Vintage it's technically legal but completely unplayed — one counter per round in a two-player game is far too slow for any competitive context, and better Equipment exists at every price point. Stick to Commander, specifically in decks built around +1/+1 counter synergies or voltron strategies that want cheap, recurring growth.

Current price
$0.19 bulk tier
At $0.19, Mantle of Leadership sits firmly in bulk territory — you're essentially getting it for free when buylistting a collection. Bulk Equipment rarely appreciates unless a new commander turns the mechanic into a chase strategy, so treat this as a low-risk slot-filler rather than a spec.
