Make Your Move

In Commander, Make Your Move occupies a narrow but real niche: two-mana instant-speed removal that converts a liability into a political chip, which matters in a four-player game where pointing removal at the right target earns goodwill. Outside of Commander, it competes directly with Deadly Dispute, Eaten Alive, and Grim Fulfill in formats where sorcery-speed and enchantment-based sacrifice outlets are more common and the political dimension evaporates entirely — at that point the card is just an expensive Geth's Verdict without the life loss rider. Pauper is probably its strongest non-Commander application, since unconditional instant-speed sacrifice effects at common are genuinely scarce, but even there the two-mana floor is a real cost against aggressive strategies.
