Magefire Wings gives a creature +2/+0, flying, and mountainwalk for two mana — the offensive package is real, but slapping an Aura on a creature that can be killed in response is a liability most competitive tables punish immediately. It earns a slot only when your commander is consistently protected or mountainwalk is closing games.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

In Commander, Magefire Wings fits narrow aggro builds — Boros or Izzet voltron commanders that want evasion fast and run enough Mountains to make mountainwalk matter against a table. Legacy, Vintage, and Modern are formats where a two-mana Aura that doesn't replace itself is simply too slow and card-disadvantageous to see play. Pauper is the most honest home outside Commander: the card is legal, cheap to acquire, and the flying plus mountainwalk combination can close games in red-heavy aggressive shells. Overall, Magefire Wings is a Commander-and-Pauper card at best, and even there it needs the right shell.

Price Context
Current price
$0.17 bulk tier
At $0.17, Magefire Wings is deep bulk — you'll pull it from a common box rather than buy it. There's no meaningful price floor to speak of, and nothing about its mechanics suggests upward movement.
