Mage-Ring Network card art
Mage-Ring Network turns surplus mana into a battery — tap it to store colorless charge counters, crack them later for a massive burst turn. The cost is real: it enters tapped, produces only colorless, and dies to land removal, so you're running it because the payoff justifies the setup, not as a generic inclusion. Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus doubling every counter you place is the clearest reason to believe.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus

Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus

39.6% of decks · synergy 0.39

Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus doubles proliferate triggers, and proliferate puts charge counters on Mage-Ring Network for free — every proliferate activation effectively stores two mana instead of one, compounding the battery's output without spending extra tap activations.

02
Zhulodok, Void Gorger

Zhulodok, Void Gorger

44.9% of decks · synergy 0.18

Zhulodok, Void Gorger wants to cast multiple eight-plus-mana spells in a single turn, and Mage-Ring Network provides the colorless burst to push over the top when lands alone fall short.

03
Ezuri, Stalker of Spheres

Ezuri, Stalker of Spheres

12.5% of decks · synergy 0.12

Ezuri, Stalker of Spheres triggers off proliferate, and Mage-Ring Network is a permanent that rewards every proliferate you fire — the Network stores mana while Ezuri converts each proliferate into a draw, making both engines run on the same actions.

oathbreaker

Mage-Ring Network belongs in Commander and almost nowhere else. In 100-card singleton, the slow build-up across multiple turns is acceptable because games go long and burst mana on one decisive turn can be transformative — particularly in colorless or proliferate shells. In competitive 60-card formats like Modern and Pioneer, entering tapped and producing only colorless on a land slot is disqualifying; no constructed deck wants that cost. Legacy and Vintage have access to fast mana that makes a slow battery irrelevant. Oathbreaker is the one alternative venue where the right commander could justify it, but even there, the card is a niche include rather than a staple.

Price Context

Current price

$0.30 bulk tier

At $0.30, Mage-Ring Network is deep bulk — pick it up out of any dollar box without a second thought. The price reflects its narrow role: high demand from Tekuthal and colorless Commander players keeps it from being a true throw-in, but broad enough supply means it's unlikely to climb.
