Llanowar Scout card art
Llanowar Scout turns every land in hand into accelerant on demand — tap it, drop a land, repeat each turn at instant speed — and that activated ability is the spine of some of the nastiest landfall loops in Commander. Pair it with Retreat to Coralhelm to untap it repeatedly off each land drop, slot Tatyova, Benthic Druid into the command zone to draw cards off every trigger, and you have an engine that can go infinite with the right setup.

Archelos, Lagoon Mystic enters lands tapped by default, but Llanowar Scout puts lands into play outside the normal land-drop rule, letting you bypass Archelos's symmetry and keep your own mana development moving while opponents' permanents crawl in tapped.

Llanowar Scout is a Commander card through and through — the one-land-per-turn rule is the constraint it breaks, and that constraint only bites hard in a long-game format where landfall payoffs compound over many turns. In Pauper it's technically playable but sees almost no competitive play; the format is too fast and too removal-dense for a 1/3 that doesn't affect the board the turn it lands. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer the card is legal but irrelevant — those formats have no use for a creature that slowly feeds land to the board when you could just play a land. Stick to Commander.

Price Context

Current price

$0.34 bulk tier

At $0.34, Llanowar Scout is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not scarcity. The price is stable because supply is wide and demand is spread across casual tables rather than concentrated in competitive spikes; don't expect movement in either direction.
