Lifespinner sacrifices three Spirits to tutor any Legendary Spirit directly onto the battlefield — no mana cost, no delay. Five mana for a tap ability is steep, but the payoff is putting a bomb into play for free, and in Spirit tribal that cost is rarely a roadblock.

Commander is where Lifespinner actually does work — Spirit tribal lists have the density of sacrifice fodder to make the tutor repeatable, and fetching a Legendary Spirit like Yosei, the Morning Star or Iname, Death Aspect directly into play can end games. In Legacy and Vintage, Lifespinner is too slow and too narrow to see play; the formats demand interaction at instant speed, not a five-mana tap ability with a three-creature price tag. Modern is the same story — the card simply doesn't compete with what those formats are doing on turn five.

Price Context
Current price
$0.34 bulk tier
At $0.34, Lifespinner is deep bulk — you're picking it up out of a commons box, not tracking it down. Demand is narrow enough that the price is unlikely to climb unless a high-profile Spirit commander drives renewed interest in the tribe.
