Leshrac's Rite permanently grants swampwalk to target creature for a single black mana — a one-mana enchantment that makes a creature unblockable in any black-heavy pod. The catch is narrow format dependency: against opponents not running Swamps, it does nothing.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Leshrac's Rite earns its slot in black-based voltron or infect builds where the table is predictably Swamp-heavy — mono-black and Dimir commanders are everywhere, and swampwalk is effectively unblockable evasion in those matchups. Outside black-dense metas it falls flat, which makes it a metagame read rather than a staple. Legacy and Vintage see it only in niche constructed shells that want cheap evasion on a permanent, but neither format prioritizes it. Oathbreaker can get use out of it in the same way Commander does, assuming the pod is running black.

Price Context
Current price
$0.22 bulk tier
At $0.22, Leshrac's Rite is deep bulk — it costs less than a sleeve and there's no reason to expect that to change. Pick it up if the card fits your deck; don't hesitate on price.
