Leafdrake Roost card art
Leafdrake Roost costs five mana to enchant a land, then asks for two more every turn to make a 2/2 flying token — that's a seven-mana setup before you see a single body. The rate is too slow for competitive Commander tables and too fragile for anything faster.

Leafdrake Roost is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but seeing play in essentially none of them. In Commander — its most plausible home — the combination of a five-mana enchantment and a two-mana-per-token activation is simply too slow against tables that end games on turns 6–8. Legacy and Vintage have no interest in this rate when faster, more resilient token engines exist. Modern theoretically supports it, but a five-mana do-nothing-immediately enchantment on a land is a liability in any real gamestate. Oathbreaker's lower-power environment is the one context where Leafdrake Roost might survive long enough to matter, particularly in a Simic value shell with a planeswalker that generates mana.

Price Context

Current price

$0.13 bulk tier

At $0.13, Leafdrake Roost is deep bulk — you're not paying for power, you're paying for cardboard. That price is unlikely to move given the card sees no meaningful competitive play and has been printed multiple times.
