Lavinia, Azorius Renegade shuts off mana cheating and punishes anyone who can't pay full price for their spells — on a two-mana body that slots into almost any white-blue control shell. Pair her with Knowledge Pool and opponents literally cannot cast spells; even outside that lock, she taxes the entire table for free. Grand Arbiter Augustin IV decks run her as a second copy of the effect, and she earns that slot every game.

Grand Arbiter Augustin IV
Grand Arbiter Augustin IV is the natural home — both cards tax spells from different angles, and Lavinia, Azorius Renegade adds a hard stop on free spells and overcosted casts that Augustin's cost-increase alone doesn't cover.

Sisay, Weatherlight Captain
Sisay, Weatherlight Captain can tutor Lavinia, Azorius Renegade directly onto the battlefield, and as a legendary creature she's a legal search target — making her a toolbox hate piece that Sisay can grab the moment fast mana or storm starts threatening.

Sen Triplets
Sen Triplets decks want opponents locked out of their own turns, and Lavinia, Azorius Renegade punishes the free spells and mana-rock cheating those opponents would otherwise use to fight back while their hand is being hijacked.

Chulane, Teller of Tales
Chulane, Teller of Tales builds creature-dense boards and appreciates a two-drop that comes with built-in stax text; Lavinia, Azorius Renegade slows the table down while Chulane's engine accelerates, creating an asymmetric advantage without dedicated lock pieces.

Zur the Enchanter
Zur the Enchanter decks run lean on creatures, so Lavinia, Azorius Renegade fills a rare slot as a creature that also functions as a hate piece — slowing fast combo opponents who would otherwise race past Zur's setup turns.

In Commander, Lavinia, Azorius Renegade is one of the most efficient stax pieces available at two mana — her text hits Dockside Extortionist activations, free counterspells, and every zero-drop mana rock opponents try to jam, making her a staple in any Azorius control or stax shell. In Legacy and Vintage she sees fringe sideboard play specifically to shut down Force of Will, Mana Crypt, and the storm spells that define those formats, though she's too fragile and too slow to anchor a maindeck strategy there. Modern's faster threats and creature removal density make her harder to keep on board, but Azorius control lists occasionally run her as a tempo piece against combo. Pioneer has enough mana-cheating payoffs in the format's combo decks that she's at least a consideration in the sideboard.
