Lassoed by the Law taps a creature and keeps it tapped as long as it stays enchanted — a permanent soft lock that also blanks the creature's activated abilities. Three mana for an aura removal effect is on the expensive side when Arrest and Minimus Containment exist at the same cost with broader or harder restrictions.

In Commander, Lassoed by the Law competes in a crowded field of three-mana pacifism effects, and it mostly loses that fight — Ossification, Darksteel Mutation, and Minimus Containment all offer harder answers at the same or lower cost. Where it edges out raw pacifism effects is the continuous tap, which shuts down tap-activated abilities and keeps the creature from blocking even if the controller gains vigilance elsewhere. In 60-card formats like Modern and Pioneer, aura-based removal is already fringe, and Lassoed by the Law is too slow and too soft to make cuts there. Standard is its most realistic competitive home, where the card pool is shallow enough that the tap clause can matter in creature-heavy metas.

$0.05 bulk tier
At $0.05, Lassoed by the Law is deep bulk — buy-a-box territory where price movement is effectively zero. It holds no financial value worth tracking, but the entry cost to try it is negligible.
