Knowledge and Power turns every scry into a Shock — pay 2 mana and deal 2 damage to any target each time you scry, stacking up fast in decks that scry repeatedly. The five-mana enchantment is expensive for what is essentially a damage rider, so it only earns a slot when your commander or engine generates scry triggers by the handful.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Knowledge and Power is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but competitive constructed formats ignore it entirely — five mana for a damage-on-scry payoff is nowhere near rate in Legacy or Modern, where scry-heavy engines already close games faster. Commander is its only real home, and even there it demands a dedicated scry-matters build: generals like Jhoira of the Ghitu variants or Keranos, God of Storms that generate repeated scry keep Knowledge and Power churning; in any other shell it sits on the battlefield doing nothing until you happen to scry. Oathbreaker is a reasonable second option if your planeswalker and signature spell generate scry volume.

$0.12 bulk tier
At $0.12, Knowledge and Power is deep bulk — pick it out of a dollar bin or throw it in a trade as filler. It won't appreciate; niche five-mana enchantments with narrow payoff conditions don't hold value, so buy it solely because your deck wants it, not as a hedge.
