Kindle the Inner Flame gives any creature haste and a free copy of itself until end of turn — the copy clause is what makes it dangerous, letting Dualcaster Mage flash in to intercept it and generate infinite copies. The two-mana cost is low enough that this isn't a situational inclusion; in any red deck running Etali, Primal Conqueror or similar attack-trigger commanders, it's doing real work the turn you cast it.

Commanders with the highest synergy
Etali, Primal Conqueror
Etali, Primal Conqueror attacks and steals spells — Kindle the Inner Flame gets it swinging the turn it enters, which is the entire point of the card in this shell. Nearly 29% of Etali decks run it, and that number reflects how consistently it closes the loop between a six-mana cast and an immediate trigger.

Kindle the Inner Flame is legal across every major constructed format but sees essentially zero competitive play outside Commander — the effect is too narrow for formats where creature-copy loops need to close a game faster and more reliably. In Commander, it earns its slot almost exclusively through the Dualcaster Mage interaction, where any instant that makes a copy becomes a two-card infinite loop when Dualcaster flashes in targeting it. Outside that combo context, Kindle the Inner Flame is a serviceable haste enabler in red aggro or attack-trigger decks, and the token copy it generates until end of turn occasionally matters for combat math. Oathbreaker is the only non-Commander format where the combo angle could realistically show up, but the singleton constraint keeps it fringe there too.

$0.21 bulk tier
At $0.21, Kindle the Inner Flame sits firmly in bulk territory — you're picking this up as a throw-in, not a purchase. Bulk combo pieces like this tend to stay flat unless a prominent deck or new commander pushes the interaction into the spotlight, so don't expect movement.
