Turnabout card art
Turnabout untaps all your lands at instant speed — or locks out an opponent's board — for four mana that Mizzix of the Izmagnus can reduce to nearly nothing. Copying it with Reiterate turns a single cast into infinite mana, making it one of the most reliable storm payoffs in blue-red.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Mizzix of the Izmagnus

Mizzix of the Izmagnus

25.0% of decks · synergy 0.23

Mizzix of the Izmagnus reduces Turnabout's cost with experience counters, and once you're at four or more counters, copying it with Reiterate generates infinite mana and storm count for a same-turn kill.

02
Hylda of the Icy Crown

Hylda of the Icy Crown

16.3% of decks · synergy 0.15

Turnabout taps an opponent's entire creature base, triggering Hylda of the Icy Crown once for each creature tapped and flooding the board with tokens or drawing a fistful of cards in a single action.

03
Zethi, Arcane Blademaster

Zethi, Arcane Blademaster

16.5% of decks · synergy 0.15

Zethi, Arcane Blademaster imprints Turnabout on a sword and replays it for free every combat, letting you untap your mana rocks each attack step and keep interaction open on every opponent's turn.

04
Azami, Lady of Scrolls

Azami, Lady of Scrolls

13.6% of decks · synergy 0.11

Azami, Lady of Scrolls builds toward a tap-everything engine, and Turnabout lets the deck untap its Wizards mid-combo to draw additional cards and keep the chain going.

05
Geralf, the Fleshwright

Geralf, the Fleshwright

13.2% of decks · synergy 0.10

Geralf, the Fleshwright spends mana aggressively to cast instants and sorceries, and Turnabout refills his mana pool mid-turn so the same turn's spell chain doesn't stall on resources.

oathbreaker

Turnabout sees virtually all of its play in Commander, where the combination of big mana, copy effects, and long games lets it function as both a combo engine and a political tap-out. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but ignored — four mana at sorcery-like pacing is far too slow for formats where the game ends on turn one or two. Oathbreaker gives it a narrower home in blue-red spell-doubling builds that mirror the Mizzix shell. Anywhere else, it simply isn't legal.

Price Context

Current price

$0.31 bulk tier

At $0.31, Turnabout is firmly bulk, which undersells how much work it does in the right shell. The price is stable — demand is real but concentrated in a specific combo context, so don't expect it to climb without a reprint ban on its combo partners.
