Killer Instinct
Enchantment
At the beginning of your upkeep, reveal the top card of your library. If it's a creature card, put it onto the battlefield. That creature gains haste until end of turn. Sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step.

Killer Instinct flips the top card of your library into play at the start of each combat, giving every creature haste — free, repeatable, and completely at your opponent's expense. Six mana is a real ask, but the card does something no other enchantment does at this rate of frequency.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is the only format where Killer Instinct makes sense, and even there it earns its slot in a narrow set of decks. In Legacy, Vintage, and Modern it's legal but irrelevant — six mana enchantments that don't win on the spot don't survive those formats. Commander gives it the right conditions: long games, big creature payoffs, and commanders that generate extra value from haste or enter-the-battlefield triggers. Killer Instinct is a build-around, not a staple, and the right shell rewards it heavily.

Price Context
Current price
$0.35 bulk tier
At $0.35, Killer Instinct is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not demand. Supply is high and casual appeal is niche enough that this price is stable rather than a coiled spring.
