Jace Reawakened card art
Jace Reawakened enters with three loyalty and immediately cantrips, then threatens to freecast spells with mana value three or less on the turn you untap with him — that's a two-for-one floor with a busted ceiling. The cost is real: he can't be played before turn three, and he dies to any stiff breeze in a multiplayer game, so you need a reason to protect him.

In Commander, Jace Reawakened is a low-risk, high-ceiling inclusion in any blue deck that wants card selection and free spells — the three-loyalty floor means he survives exactly one hit before folding, so he rewards decks that can protect him or reset him. In Pioneer and Standard, he slots into tempo and control shells that want a cheap threat capable of pulling ahead in the midgame without a large mana investment. Modern gives him stiffer competition from faster planeswalkers, but the foretell ability generates real value in slower fair decks. Legacy and Vintage have too much raw speed for a three-drop that doesn't immediately end the game, but he's legal if the build calls for it.

Price Context

Current price

$1.60 cheap tier

At $1.60, Jace Reawakened is firmly in budget territory — you're getting a planeswalker with genuine competitive applications for the price of a pack rare. That price is likely a floor given his cross-format playability, but he's easy to pick up now without overpaying.
