Ironwright's Cleansing exiles an artifact or enchantment — a clean answer to the most common permanent types in Commander — but costs three mana at sorcery speed, which is where it falls behind the competition. There are strictly better options at two mana, and this one rarely makes the cut.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Ironwright's Cleansing is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but its playability ceiling is low across all of them. In Commander, three-mana sorcery-speed removal has to do something exceptional to earn a slot — exile is good, but Disenchant and Demolish effects are so plentiful that this sits at the bottom of the pile. In Pauper, where the card pool at common is deeper than it looks, cheaper white removal options again outclass it. Across competitive 60-card formats, artifact and enchantment hate tends to live in the sideboard and needs to be efficient; Ironwright's Cleansing at three mana doesn't clear that bar.

Current price
$0.04 bulk tier
At $0.04, Ironwright's Cleansing is deep bulk — it costs less than a sleeve. That price reflects exactly what the market thinks of it, and there's no reason to expect it to climb.
