Inventor's Axe is a 3/0 Equipment that costs three mana to cast and two more to equip — five mana total to give one creature +3/+0, which is a bad rate by any competitive standard. The Crew 3 discount makes it marginally interesting in Vehicle-tribal shells, but outside of that narrow context it's outclassed by nearly every Equipment at this price point.

Inventor's Axe is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but legality and playability aren't the same thing. In Commander, the only home worth considering is a Vehicle-tribal deck where the Crew 3 discount on equip actually applies — commanders like Depala, Pilot Exemplar or Shorikai, Genesis Engine give it a plausible slot. In Pauper, common Equipment options are limited enough that a +3/+0 pump piece has occasional niche use in aggro, though the five-mana investment to get it online is still a real cost. In Legacy, Modern, and Vintage, Inventor's Axe doesn't compete at all — those formats have access to Colossus Hammer, Sword of Fire and Ice, and Umezawa's Jitte.

$0.13 bulk tier
At $0.13, Inventor's Axe is deep bulk — this is a card you find in a common box, not one you order. It holds no financial interest and is unlikely to move unless a Vehicle-tribal commander breaks out and creates demand, which remains a distant prospect.
