In Commander, Inspiring Captain finds a narrow home in go-wide token strategies — Isshin, Two Heavens as One or Jetmir, Nexus of Revels lists that can flood the board and turn a +1/+1 pump into lethal damage out of nowhere. Outside of that specific role, five mana for a fragile body and a temporary anthem is too slow for the format. In Pauper, the common restriction keeps the competition lower, and Inspiring Captain has seen fringe play in White Weenie or Soldiers builds that need cheap pump effects at common rarity.
