Infinite Authority
Enchantment — Aura
Enchant creature
Whenever enchanted creature blocks or becomes blocked by a creature with toughness 3 or less, destroy the other creature at end of combat. At the beginning of the next end step, if that creature was destroyed this way, put a +1/+1 counter on the first creature.

Infinite Authority puts a +1/+1 counter on your creature at the end of each combat it wins, and forces any creature that blocks it to leave play if it survives to the end of combat — a punishing engine that rewards attacking into defenders. The catch is three white mana and an enchantment that does nothing the turn it enters; it needs a stable, aggressive creature to justify the slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Infinite Authority is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker — and Commander is the only format where it realistically sees play. Legacy and Vintage have no interest in a three-mana aura that requires combat steps to generate value; those formats end games before the engine pays off. In Commander, Infinite Authority belongs on a evasive, hard-to-kill creature in a white aggro or Voltron shell where you expect multiple combat phases and your commander is already threatening lethal.

Budget Alternatives
Cheaper options that do most of the same work
Infinite Authority's removal-on-block effect is unusual enough that no single card replicates it cleanly, but Cartouche of Solidarity and Armored Ascension cover the counter-growth half for under a dollar each. If the blocker-punishing angle is what you're after, Gryff's Boon or Spectra Ward remove the blocking problem at the source by making your creature difficult to block at all — often a cleaner solution than waiting for combat resolution.
Price Context
Current price
$12.44 mid tier
At $12.44, Infinite Authority sits in the mid tier — notable for a card with almost no competitive presence outside of niche Commander builds. It's an old enchantment with a small print run, so the price reflects supply more than demand; don't expect it to climb, but don't expect a reprint crash either.
