Incendiary enchants a creature and converts damage it deals into direct damage to any target — a persistent redirection effect stapled onto whatever attacker or blocker you choose. It's a niche piece that rewards aggressive red builds but rarely makes the cut when a Shock or a creature with built-in damage replacement can do the job cleaner.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Incendiary is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but sees virtually no competitive play in any of them. In Commander it's the most plausible home — red enchantment synergy decks or aristocrats-adjacent builds that want to weaponize combat damage can squeeze marginal value out of it, but the enchant-a-creature setup makes it fragile to removal. Legacy and Vintage have far more efficient damage redirection and burn options, so Incendiary never registers there. It's a card that exists in the format pool without really belonging to any format's meaningful strategy.

Price Context
Current price
$0.22 bulk tier
At $0.22, Incendiary is deep bulk — the price reflects how rarely it's wanted, not any hidden scarcity. Don't expect that to change; the effect is too narrow and the competition too stiff for demand to move the needle.
